Hey Photographer, FOCUS !!
Yes, Today it's all about focus. Gone are the days where you let your camera decide who or what should be the focus of the camera. Today you get to choose it, in fact you ought to choose it, as a good photographer. You may think that it is better to just put it on general focus and let the camera focus everything and you just later edit it on picasa and focus what you want. But let me tell you, there is a huge difference in the photos when you do that. Focusing in the camera manually lets you select the complete face or object but in picasa it is based on a circular radius. And let me tell you once you try both you will find out how ridiculous picasa blurring looks. It is apt if you want to give some extreme blur effect but if you want to simply give your photo a depth or a 3d effect then camera focusing is the best. So in the following photos you will see how focusing and un-focusing (if there is a word like that) has helped to give the photo more depth and made it look even more real.
(Yes, I am totally obsessed with monochrome shooting)
It is not necessary to focus on what is near sometimes it could also be to focus the far away objects. Like in the photo below you see the soil closer is out of focus, bringing into focus only the bunch of coconut.
And focusing does not necessarily mean focusing only the central object. Luckily our dslr cameras today are smart to identify the objects in a frame and focus on them. Either way you can also manually select your object of focus on the display screen. Like in the picture below, the object of focus is in the corner of the frame.
